The birth gem story spans centuries and involves multiple interpretations, gemstones and opinions. Based on the scale of this topic there are different types of birth rocks which are pretty much segmented into a variety of groups. What are the different types of birthstones? Here are the major seven types of birthstones or groups of types of birth gems.
1.Monthly birthstones
Birthstones by month is arguably the most well-known of birthstone types mostly because of the heavily promoted American jewelers’ association list. These birth gems are arranged according to the person’s birth month.

The lists of birthstones by celestial sign are the most popular nowadays. The connection between gems and zodiac sign was put in writing by Flavius Josephus back in the 1st century AD.

Who doesn’t want to know the most powerful birthstone? Believe it or not, birth gems were also arranged by power with some of them considered special!
