Libra Birthstones
Libra, also referred to as the Lady of Justice, is the 7th astrological zodiac sign. In Rosicrucian philosophy, Libra was one of the 3 zodiac signs symbolically included in the Wheel of Ezekiel and representing sympathy. Crystal ball gazers of the old times used to drink a herbal elixir in order to have clear visions, and those herbs were thought to be under the influence of Libra zodiac sign.

George Kunz, the guy who was considered a mineralogy legend and birthstone expert about 100 years ago, identified chrysolite as Libra birth rock. Her is a little rhyme that many believe belongs to Kunz.

As you may know, most birthstone lists originated from interpretation of the twelve gems of the biblical high priest’s breastplate. The seventh breastplate stone was called ‘lesham’ and is known today as an opal hence making it a birthstone for Libra.
Isidore Kozminski, a renowned astrologist of the early 20th century, assigned azurite, a blue copper carbonate (also often called ‘blue malachite’), as a Libra star stone. According to the same author, actual malachite belongs to Libra crystals list too.
Horace Thomson, also early 20th century astrologist, argues that sapphire belongs here as well especially as zodiac birthstone for Libra woman.
So to summarize Libra zodiac birthstones are jasper, chrysolite, opal, azurite, malachite, and sapphire. It was also accepted that Libra birthstone color is dark crimson.
